Putting everything back where I found it. I do it but my parents seem to have fallen out of the same habit lol
Being a depressed negative sob.
Hoovering the whole house because someone is popping over
Placing my hands on the shoulders of the other person when moving behind them in the kitchen so they know where I am.
Opening all the windows first thing when there is morning light. I hated all that morning light as a kid and now I love it and insist upon it.
My mom is a very discreet individual. She doesn’t like it when people know things that they are not supposed to know. I took it and I applied in my life in various ways.
For example, I’m someone who can have a lot (financially for example) and you wouldn’t know. Being discreet in that way reduces the amount of unnecessary stress that you have to deal with.
That’s just one thing I’ve learnt from my mom.
Standing in the kitchen with my hands on my hips, staring into the void looking annoyed as fuck
Cleaning the house on Saturdays.
Wanting things to be the way I want them , exactly how I want
Only using the bedroom for night time activities. It’s easy to keep a room clean and organized if you rarely use it.
Post-it notes galore!
My father used to count things while getting ready to go somewhere. He would pick up the wallet and say “one”; keys “two”, wear jacket and go “three” and so on. I do the same. The fun thing is that no item has its own number, so it’s not a mnemonic trick, it’s just… Counting. On times when my OCD spiked up I would end up counting each sleeve I slid on, steps towards the door… It can get infinite pretty soon.
My mother sings while doing stuff and I do that as well; I make up songs about what I’m doing, too.
Mannerisms. Man if I don’t walk and talk the exact same way my dad does… the talking with my hands and the way I enunciate throughout my sentences is a mirror of my dad
Ruminating over the costs of every little thing to the point of anxiety. I’m trying to stop, and actually enjoy my money.
Saving an extra good box something came in. You never know when it will be useful! Said my mom, my whole life.
Cleaning with music🎶🎶
And making breakfast on the weekends
Humming while cleaning up the house. My grandmother and mother did that as well.
dishes by hand. we have a dish wisher but after the chaos of getting home routine and dinner with the kids it’s a way for us to connect and have a moment for our selves while the kids play.
Mine is a bad habit, when I first became an adult I cleaned when I was expecting company. Now I clean everyday to not have loads of it to do and be overwhelmed.
I still manage to do extra shit when company visits though it’s like I have to have a million things on my plate!
Talking to myself 🙃
Doing my washing on Friday
