Hi all

As the title suggests, I am flying back to the UK on the 25th and I expect all modes of transportation to be shut. But is there going to be like really huge lines and delays? Can anyone who has travelled before on 25th throw some light ? Thanks in advance

  1. Where are you flying to and where will your onward travel plans take you.

I predict you’ll probably have issues if you were planning on using public transport.

  2. I’ve only traveled on the 24th and it was sooo busy. I doubt many will be flying on Christmas Day but you never know. I’d prepare for long lines just in case.

  3. Charles has been visiting airports whacking people with a cane. Duck into the loo’s or something.

  4. Most people will not want to be flying in on Christmas Day, so it should hopefully be a lot quieter than it will be in the run-up.

  5. My experience is the airport is dead that day as it means you’ll be spending Xmas day sitting in it.

  6. Border force is on strike so getting through immigration is going to be a shit show no matter what the government say

  7. Be mindful of that if you see metre high letters in a field that say ‘ Welcome to Luton ‘ it’s a prank

  8. There are still carpool apps where people travel with other people in the car (for free or just petrol).

Do a quick search as depending on what airport you are travelling from and area travelling to you could save a lot of money as people will be travelling.

  9. Check your transport links but expect it to be really quiet. We sometimes go on holiday on the 25th and it’s bliss.

  10. I’ve done it before. Airport will be dead, most shops closed.

Honestly just book a hotel room near Heathrow and travel home on Boxing Day. It’s not worth the hassle. Taxis will be extortionate, no public transport.

Premier inn is £40. Just buy food at the airport because nothing nearby will be open.

  11. I don’t think you can pass the border check on that day as the border force will be on strike?
