I don’t think they are random. I think they are put up in places not to far from the venue.
Used to go to plenty of raves in abandoned warehouses back in the day – they are as shady as you imagine:
– everyone smashed on ketamine
– hardcore drum & bass blaring
– dregs of society all wearing camo trousers
– random hippies with a dog
Good times to be fair. Had a blast.
When I was in Berlin I ended up at a rave I saw advertised on a random poster whilst walking back to my hostel. Probably the most fun night out of my life. I’ve noticed The Black Swan do a lot of advertising on posters around the Easton area of Bristol too. It’s definitely a case of trying to advertise to locals.
Depends what music you’re into, but for me easily the best raves are in Holland. The sound systems, lighting, show is all 2nd to none.
