Thinking of naming our son Micah – I don’t personally know anyone by that name in the Uk.

I know we tend to shorten everything here to one syllable. Anyone know any Micah’s and do their names get shortened to Mic/Mike?

  1. I know a kid called Micah, his name doesn’t get shortened but I think that’s more due to his neurodiversity than anything else (everyone has to be called by their full, proper names or it stresses him out).

  2. There’s a western themed open world video game which has done considerable damage to the name Micah

  3. Ex-footballer and TV pundit Micah Richards.

Never heard his name be shortened, but it tends to get pronounced differently by some people (Mike-ah, Mee-kah).

  4. Only Micah I know is from RDR2. He’s an absolute scumbag.

But by the time the kid’s grown, that won’t matter!

  5. Great name, but will forever be synonymous with Micah from Red Dead Redemption 2 for me, and he was not a good man lol

  6. I know a guy called Micah Bell. Nasty guy threatened to kill his ex wife and daughters if her new husband went anywhere near him.

  7. I know several young kids called Micah! Don’t think it gets shortened. Parents took biblical inspiration I believe

  8. There’s a lot of them under the age of 16. Mostly black if they’re over 10, mostly upper middle class if younger.

  9. I went to school with a guy called Micah and college with another guy called Micah. Both of west African heritage. Both were great guys one of them went on to play football for a small local team who play in blue.

  10. I know one who goes by Mickey instead which isn’t actually shorter or anything so a bit weird.

  11. Try Arthur or John they are much better names and your child won’t be a lying, manipulative rat

  12. I know two Micah’s but it’s a prevalent name in my community, anyway. I think it’s a lovely name and none of them get their names shortened.
