My daughter just asked me where I got the name from as she’s never heard anyone else call them that. I honestly don’t know.

  1. Give you the tv remote whilst admonishing you for calling it the wrong name. Then, when you ask what it should be called, I’d direct you to one of the countless discussion threads on this topic.

  2. If I was at home the telly remote if at work the zapper is the handheld barcode scanner.

  3. As an Aussie I’ve had to learn that the remote is NEVER called that. In our house it’s “the buttons” (and the remote for the roller shutter is “the ditter”).

  4. TV remote..

My dad calls his Frank, and if you get that reference with regard to this post, well done!

  5. I’d expect my wife to hand me the Livestock Stick so I could poke one of the kids.

We call the TV remote “The buttons” here.

  6. I don’t know why I immediately thought of a lighter 😅
But english is not my first language.

  7. Never heard a remote called this. I was going to reply that I wouldn’t have a clue what you wanted.

  8. A hand-phaser, or possibly a wand of lightning bolts. Can’t imagine anything else being capped a zapper.

  9. We call it a zapper too! You’re the only person I’ve ever come across outside my family!

  10. Tv remote, but I dunno anyone who calls it that. If your in a room with tv and someone says ‘pass me the zapper’ I can’t think of much else it would be
