I don’t mean even state wide food. I mean wholly localized stuff. Things that only exist in the corner of your state.

To give you an example, my favorite is brier hill pizza, in northeastern Ohio. It is in my opinion the greatest form of pizza in the US, and would be a national phenomenon if spread properly. To be honest this post was an excuse to share this…

Oh we’re gonna fight? NY get in here, CT you can come too

  2. For those of you who don’t know, brier hill pizza was invented in youngstown, Ohio. It’s very heavy on sauce, has bell peppers, Romano cheese, and usually pepperoni. It’s also a thicker crust circular pizza, and is usually pretty heavy

  3. She crab soup or shrimp and grits for the Charleston area. Tasted the former and it’s amazing, but a shrimp allergy has kept me from the other. Sometimes I feel like I’ve failed as a Charlestonian on a genetic level

  4. Chicken Riggies from Utica, NY.
The only other thing native to the area is a small potato, boiled in salt. Hardly a claim to fame.

  5. New Mexican food. A awesome blend of Mexican food, indigenous food and some American mixed in.

  6. Detroit style pizza or just a big whole lobster ready to crack open and drown in butter.

I’ll let you figure out the locations.

  7. Colorado doesn’t really have much notable, especially here in the Springs, as unique to the area.

From back home, I find myself most missing being able to get a high quality dipped Italian beef on nearly any block in the city. I can barely even find Italian beef outside of Chicago

  8. South of Boston exists a bar pizza style understood locally as South Shore Bar Pizza and it’s greasy with cheddar and thinner crust and is amazing.

  9. Sonoran hot dogs are good. And it’s not specific to AZ per-say, but Indian tacos are amazing. Fry bread is super common here.

  10. All-Star waffle. eggs scrambled w/ cheese. bacon. hashbrown scattered, covered, and chunked. Toast.

Joking, sorta (that is my order at waho)

Best bbq I’ve ever had was a hole in the wall in Charleston. No idea the name of the place, but it had a bar in the center and they didn’t serve it on plates, only metal trays for the table. Think about it everyday. Maybe someone else can name it.

  11. Northern New Jersey, taylor ham on Kaiser roll. A good snack at dinner, late at night when going home from NYC.

  12. We’ve claimed the pimento cheese sandwich and tbh pimento cheese can be amazing when done right
