So every Holliday I gets lots of candy from all my loved ones, I always specify how I don’t like having sweets around to these loved ones especially before Hollidays as to minimize what I throw away as I have little self control so it’s better off in the garbage. I have one loved one in particular who I’m always saying something like how mint makes me sick yet they get me huge amounts of peppermint pattys. How do I tell my loved ones that these gifts make me feel worse about myself and the hollidays and are usually why I don’t even show up to these things without being rude.

  1. You have tried dropping hints and it hasn’t worked. You can inch up your game and try dropping more obvious hints. Like one time when you’re around them, try saying specifically “I can’t stand peppermint pattys because mint makes me sick”. If you have to go a subtle route try that.

Although If it were me, I think I would always go for the honest and direct route because then you won’t have to worry about whether they picked up on the hint. Just say “I appreciate the PP you get me all the time but I don’t enjoy them and they make me feel bad”. I’m sure or I’d hope they’d appreciate the honesty.

  2. Stop saying hints and just say it to them clearly like u said here. It is not rude if u say it politely

  3. Get them a really shitty gift, and the moment they open it and you see the disappointment on their face, mention how you hate sweets.

  4. You give regift the shitty gifts back to them of course. Or tell them you’re not accepting food gifts for medical reasons
