me and my boyfriend have been dating for a few months now. everyone i know and love knows about him and i constantly talk to them about him while his parents know nothing of my existence. before we got together he had got out of a relationship and his parents have this thing about him dating so when we got together he never told them anything. He says it’s because he doesn’t want to hear them lecture him and for me to give him some time and he’d tell them in the spring. i try to be understanding but i can’t help feeling like he’s ashamed of me or embarrassed by me or he just doesn’t feel as strongly about me as he says he does. if he loved me like he says wouldn’t he tell them? i don’t know if i should be mad or just be patient

He was extremely clear about why he hasn’t told them, they apparently suck when it comes to his relationships. This is not about you at all.
**Not everyone has a great relationship with their parents, or loving understanding supportive parents they can share everything in their lives with.** If you have this- great. It’s not the same for him.
You should feel bad he struggles with parent issues, not make this about yourself. Do not pressure him or make him feel guilty, this is rough.
