How do I tell someone we’re too far apart to be friends?

I met someone at a couple social events and she wanted to hang out but she lives an hour from me. We made a couple plans meeting in the middle that fell through and I was relieved every time because I don’t really feel like driving 30 min to see someone I barely know.

How do I let her down gently? Her last message asked if I was still interested in scheduling something and I haven’t responded for 24 hours and I feel bad about it.

Maybe: “Hey! Man I’m wondering if maybe we’re just too far apart to make this work 🙁 I’m really sorry but it seems like it’s hard to meet in the middle even!”

Or do I just never respond? We’ve met up twice
