  1. Pacific: San Luis Obispo, CA

    Mountain west: Ouray, CO

    Midwest: Terre Haute, IN

    Atlantic: New Shoreham, RI

  2. I don’t know enough about the others to say for them, but Kansas City for the Midwest / Central Time district, it’s right near the center.

  3. Cultural Regions you would need 5, IMO

    **West, LA Capital:** CA, OR, WA, NV, ID, WY, MT

    **Midwest, Chicago Capital:** ND, SD, NE, KS, MO, MN, IA, IL, WI, MI, OH, IN

    **Southwest, DFW Capital:** AZ, NM, OK, TX, CO, UT

    **Old South, ATL Capital:** AR, LA, MS, TN, KY, AL, GA, FL, SC, NC, VA, WV

    **North, NYC Capital:** ME, NH, MA, CT, NY NJ, DI, PA, MD, DC

    Sorry if I forgot your state. Also WV was an enigma I didn’t know where to put it.

  4. We are honored you chose us rather than the probably more obvious Los Angeles or San Francisco.

  5. Why does the Midwest and Mountain West get region, but not the South and Southwest?

  6. Pacific: Bakersfield, CA

    Mountain West: Yuma, AZ

    Midwest: Gary, IN

    Atlantic: Fayetteville, NC

  7. Bakersfield, Ca

    Beaver, Ut

    Gary, In (Or maybe Little rock, Ak)

    Danville, Va

    I just wanna watch the world burn

  8. So these administrative regions roughly correspond with time zones, I take it? In that case, I would trade Seattle for San Francisco and trade New York for DC, and (as much as it pains me to say it) Chicago to St. Louis, just to make each capital as central as possible.

  9. Pacific: Truckee, California.

    Mountain: Grand Junction, Colorado

    Midwest: Lincoln, Nebraska

    East coast/Atlantic: Dover, Delaware.

    Honorable mentions:

    Southwest: Las Cruces, New Mexico

    South East: Chattanooga, Tennessee

    Gulf Coast: Gulfport, Mississippi

    Gotta keep them capitals (relatively) small as to not have too much governing influence based on population, and gotta keep ‘em somewhat centrally located.

  10. Atlantic: Wilmington Delaware

    Then people would be forced to remember that Delaware exists.

  11. Northeast- Philadelphia

    Midwest-Detroit

    South- New Orleans

    Mountain states- Salt Lake City

    Pacific states- Portland

    I don’t like the primate city of the region also doubling as the regional capital but I am ok with a secondary city taking on the role as the regional capital.

  12. To make it maximally inconvenient, I’d go with San Diego CA, Bozeman MT, McAllen TX, and Jacksonville FL.

  13. Pacific: Ames, Iowa

    Mountain West: Bastrop, Louisiana

    Midwest: Girdwood, Alaska

    Atlantic: Tafuna, American Samoa

  14. In true U.S. custom, we should immediately disqualify the most populous cities in each region.

    These new capitals will have enough power as it is.

  15. Capitals that I didn’t just totally randomly pick:

    * Pacific: Redding, CA
    * Mountain West: Casper, WY
    * Midwest: Iowa City, IA
    * Atlantic: Dover, DE

  16. I’ll pick the nearest municipality to the geographic center of each region, even if it’s a town of 500 people with two gas stations and one stoplight.
