Why would they change shape? I feel like any changes would be pretty minor unless the states start waging wars of conquest against eachother.

Now, if that were to occur….

The panhandle will stretch to San Diego, or we’ll choke your rivers with our dead.
Eventually, Michigan will reclaim the Toledo Strip as God intended
Were just biding our time and waiting for when the feds aren’t looking. Now I’m thinking about it, since half of congress can’t do anything right now…
[The first state border changes were centuries ago](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_cessions).
I don’t see many happening in the near future.
Potenially any state with a smaller river as a border.
Is it normal for states to change their borders?

I’ve no clue, hence the question, because I’m not an American myself.
Certainly Hawaii will!
Hawai and Florida will be getting smaller at some time.
I doubt any, but maybe Oregon and Idaho since eastern Oregon is always trying to join Idaho.
Idaho & Washington
Large-scale border change? It’ll be a long time. You might have something small-scale like one border town becoming part of the state on the other side of the line, probably for economic reasons.
Eastern Oregon has generated significantly momentum for becoming part of Idaho.
The [Kentucky Bend](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kentucky_Bend) being ceded to Missouri or Tennessee would make sense. Other than that the only border changes I can imagine would be international with the Northwest Angle in Minnesota or Point Robert’s in Washington.
It would be difficult for them to do so considering they all border another state, water, or another country and interstate wars are a thing of the past.
I’ve had my eye on the Oklahoma pan handle for some time now.
Louisiana, as it is consumed by the sea. Florida will go first and further, but I’d expect them to refuse to admit it’s happening til at least a couple ofher states do it first.
The last real border changes resulted in a war. Outside of small corrections due to surveying, this isn’t going to happen. There are fairly extreme political consequences to this.
CT gives their NY wanna be tail to NY.
I don’t think political borders will change but geographically southern FL and part of the gulf could permanently become ocean soon. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The border between North and South Carolina was resurveyed a while back, and 6 years ago was formally adjusted. Some folks wound up on the other side of the border from where they started. Does that count?
US states have changed their borders before. Kentucky came from Virginia and Vermont came from New York.
The last time there was an argument about our state’s border we almost went to war with Britain…
I really don’t understand the amount of questions that get asked here about changing state borders.
Oklahoma and Texas are in a legal battle about their borders because of BLM. So I’d say within 30 years.
none of them.
Many border have already changed.
