  1. Be loyal, use integrity, mean what you say, stand up for those who can’t, respect women and especially your wife.

  2. A man is someone who is willing to do the right thing, no matter what the consequences, and/or someone with a pair of testicles.

    If—
    BY RUDYARD KIPLING

    If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
    If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;
    If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
    Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
    Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
    And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

    If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
    If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
    If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
    And treat those two impostors just the same;
    If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
    Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
    Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
    And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

    If you can make one heap of all your winnings
    And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
    And lose, and start again at your beginnings
    And never breathe a word about your loss;
    If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
    To serve your turn long after they are gone,
    And so hold on when there is nothing in you
    Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

    If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
    Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
    If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
    If all men count with you, but none too much;
    If you can fill the unforgiving minute
    With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
    Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
    And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

    Still as valid now as 100 years ago

  4. You aren’t a man until you’ve had a hairy older doctor who favors Luigi bend you over for a prostate exam and tells you ” Don’t laugh or I’ll think you like it” while simultaneously sliding his lubed, gloved, burly middle finger into your anus, but you nervously chuckle and he says “See, I knew you’d like it”.

    Perhaps I should have left that memory buried….

  5. I believe the passing of your father is one thing thats needed. I felt a monumental shift inside of myself when my dad passed. He wasn’t around to help any more but i remember every thing he taught me vividly now. Also age and experience are key factors

  6. The thought that you are one

    Thats all. Thats what everyone is describing (besides the biological answers)

  7. Absolutely nothing.

    A goldfish doesn’t sit and read books on how to be a good goldfish, it just does it naturally.

    This idea that men have to strive to be a ‘man’ is nothing more than a socially constructed obligation and you have the choice to play along or not.

  8. Learning to be comfortable with yourself and who you are is the most important thing.

  9. Well I have a penis and I’m an adult so I guess I have what it truly takes to be a man!
