I was recently told that an upside down pineapple indicates that you and your partner are down to swing. Is that actually a thing?

  1. Apparently, some folks use it as a code on cruises specifically, as a way to signal to other couples. But you should check a swinger sub for better verification.

  2. It is thing, yes. Technically, the pineapple indicates you are a swinger, upside down means that you are looking for partners.

This is mostly prominent in beach areas/on cruises, but it is a thing, period.

And yes, anklets are a symbol of hotwives.

That said, not everyone uses either of these symbols. And some people just like pineapples and/or anklets, with no clue of the tie ins.

  3. Pineapples are also used as a general symbol of hospitality (you will find them in artwork of many hotels), so don’t make any assumptions based on it alone.

  4. Yes and no. Yes some use it. No because it may be innocent too. I’ve also been told the German Good Luck star can mean it too. Pennsylvania stars or Primitive stars. However, this one is less of a symbol than pineapples imo. Some people like that barn decor

  5. It is, but I HATE this. I’m from a city famously represented by a pineapple…. My job industry an award is the golden pineapple….I actually had a pineapple tattoo on my shoulder but I got it covered up. I love the pineapple as a symbol for Hospitality which is what it originally was but now yep everyone just associates it with being a swinger 🙁

  6. It might be, or it might just be somebody that likes pineapples. Or black rings.

Ask the person how many queen sized inflatable air mattresses they own. That’s the dead give away.

  7. Lol. I have a pineapple door mat. I was told it’s a sign of hospitality. Like “welcome”

    Lol.

  8. Somehow reminds me of horga’hn. First time I see pineapple in this context, though.

  9. See, I’ve heard this. And also ankle jewellery. Of course I only heard about it AFTER I got a tattoo of a pineapple on my ankle. No one has propositioned me yet though, not sure if I should be insulted or relieved!

  10. Bought matching swimsuits for my wife and I that had pineapple prints all over them, we couldn’t figure out why people kept buying our drinks at our resort until someone finally told us. 🤦‍♂️

  11. Sort of, but we swingers also know that we don’t own the copyrights and anybody can decorate with a pineapple. It’s more of meme than anything else.

Anklets? Not hardly. My wife wore one for years long before we ever considered swinging.

  12. Always heard that they were but never actually seen it used in my experience in swinger life

  13. Lol. Yup. I learnt that because I literally went to a swinger party (at a fully booked out hotel, they weren’t messing around, lol) and in the evening all the tables had a pineapple decoration on them and there were several rooms with a pineapple themed decor on the doors/floor mats that people put out.

  14. Yes, but not everyone knows or subscribes to that. I have a pineapple print swim suit and I’ve had a handful of couples be extra friendly with me when I wear that. I wasn’t interested but I knew they took it as a potential invitation, especially when they comment how they love my pineapple suit. I don’t get the same forwardness when I wear other swimsuits.

Also had a couple at a trivia night I go to literally name their team the upside down pineapples and made sure to tell me and my then girlfriend we inspired their team name. That was their “discreet” way of saying they were into us if we were into them. We were monogamous though.

  15. I thought the pineapple was infertility?
I used to have it on my instagram … that’s embarrassing 😂😳

  16. Supposedly, pink flamingos are used to indicate swingers lifestyle in the RV community as well.

  17. I have been hearing it a lot from a podcast called Bonfire. Apparently they call this the “lifestyle” and as others have said pineapples and pineapple imagery is part of it. Some people even put a pineapple on their shopping carts to let people know they are swingers.

  18. Yes, this is a thing, but obviously not always applicable to unsuspecting minds and doesn’t always mean just swinging…. 😋

  19. I had a coworker who likes pineapples and got one tattooed on her forearm. She started getting asked if her boyfriend and her swing (they don’t) and she learned that way that it’s a sign for swinging. Big oof.

  20. Symbols like an upside down pineapple, black rings, anklets, white rocks in your garden, etc, were used many decades ago to signify someone was in the lifestyle. With the advent of social media, everything has gone online. Those in the lifestyle find play partners through social media sites just like vanilla folks find dates.

Some groups still use pineapples and black rings as decorations or group logos, but it’s more of a joke than anything.

  21. You can even buy T-shirts with upside down pineapples on them on Amazon.

It is a thing for some, a clever joke for others. Especially when your mother-in-law asks you about your cool shirt.

  22. I knew of the anklet bracelet for years (been I’m the swinger scene or so I thought for almost 9 years now/ but just recently learned about the pineapple being a sign, lol. Actually learned about that on a sitcom (ghost’s?)…learn someone new everyday!

  23. I was always told the pineapple is used because it’s easy to tell which side is up 😂

  24. The first time I heard about it was about 10 years ago. I heard someone say to buy a pineapple and put it upside down in the shopping basket is a subtle sign that one swinger can identify another.

  25. According to the comedy TV show ‘Ghosts’ an inverted Pineapple is a sign you’re up for swinging. LOL
