I’m joining a hiking group and don’t know anyone. Dozens of people are going.

I imagine they’ll be scattered in small groups that they’ll stick with the whole time. Do I just force myself into a group and ask to walk together? What if we don’t really hit it off? Do I slink off and find a new group mid-walk?

  1. That sounds like a good way to talk with different groups by just changing up your pace to catch up with or slow down to different groups. Just introduce yourself, ask where they’re from or what they do, and hike with them for as long as the conversation is good. You could even spend some time solo if you want to

  2. Don’t force anything…just be open to conversation with anyone and try to enjoy the experience.
