People say just be positive and look at the brighter side of life. Just don’t overthink or don’t ever give up.

As an introvert, I’ve struggled since middle school to really understand myself. Now that im in my second year of college. I feel as if im more lost than ever before. It’s so hard to open up to others and making friends or connections because I struggle with insecurities and I just don’t feel proud of myself. I understand comparing yourself is a bad thing but at the end of the day, majority of people somehow do get this feeling of worry like why am I not there yet like others. How come im so behind in life. How come they have friends and seem to enjoy life and becoming successful. It’s like all this feelings and emotional worries puts me down. I really hoped that this year 2023 will be the year of self improvement, gaining confidence, learning to believe in myself and working on my weakness. Striving for better and overall becoming a confident fearless person but I just wish for this yet idk how to start.

  1. I think pinpointing what you value in life, and determining what current actions you’re taking to step towards those goals will help provide clarity on some inner turmoil. This may also help you realize that you are working towards goals and help increase your appreciation for what you are currently doing (or provide insight as to what you may want/need to start doing). I say all this because you say you’re not proud or confident in yourself and many times being proud/confident can come from successful completion of tasks/goals. Of course, “faking it till you make it” is also sometimes part of the process as cliche as it is. Simply put, even if you’re not confident, if you continue to make an effort towards the things you want there is more to be proud of, and you will continue to grow hopefully into the person you want to be. It’s okay to be a bit all over the place sometimes until you figure out your values and goals. Fear/anxiety can glue people down, so taking small steps forward is crucial to continue forwards. There’s so many different paths to the same goal. You’re not “behind” so much as you are on a different path. Wishing you the best for this year!
