So admittedly I should’ve done what most people on here said I should’ve done and just gone with another mechanic.

Went to a different mechanic that was recommended and who also is a friend of my step dad and he replaced the brake servo pipe for £45 (which would’ve cost god knows how much at kwik fit) and he probably would’ve saved me £150 – £180 on the replacement coil pack and spark plugs, going by euro car parts prices.

Reason I went to kwik fit was cos I went to one that’s 30 minutes away but was only 5 minutes away when I worked at a previous job and they changed my tyres for free cos they’re the same size and gave me a hefty discount (like 30 or 40% off) on a battery (I think) and something else. But they don’t work on anything engine diagnostics related so had to go to the one that’s near me and they basically said I should just take the car back to where I bought it from and get another one cos it’ll cost too much to fix the many issues.

Well today I found out there’s no issues apart from the brake hose and now I’m feeling salty about myself and if I’d have just waited til January instead of wanting to get it fixed ASAP then I wouldn’t be down like £280. 😑

My parents have said I should be less impatient and this is the consequence of it. 😮‍💨

So yea I am definitely never going there again.

  2. Find a garage you trust and stick with them.

I think most people have been ripped off by garages, including one’s like kwik fit.

  3. Yeah, I spent £200 in my first semester uni on books, turned out the learning centre had multiple copies of all of them that I could taken out for free. It seemed like the entire uni was complicit in ripping off the freshers because nobody said a bloody word.

  4. The first time I went to Poland, I got utterly tucked up on a taxi fare. Thing is, it was so cheap in comparison to the UK that I didn’t notice.

I only found out when I took a similar length ride later that day and it was a third of the price. The later journey was arranged by a local contact who spoke to the driver and basically told him – don’t rip the dumb English fuck off; I have told him the price.

  5. The lesson you have learned from this is ‘Kwik Fit are Shite’. Now say it with me…
