I(22M) confessed to my crush(21F), and she says I remind her of Midnight rain, by Taylor Swift. I guess I can see some similarities, she is moving away in a couple of months, and she thinks I’m great but the timing isn’t right, so she doesn’t want a relationship. I guess we are staying friends, but I really want to know what exactly does she mean by the song. I don’t know how to ask her without making it awkward. Does anyone have some insights on what might she mean by it?

The song is basically about a boy who is too complacent – “he wanted comfortable I wanted that pain, he wanted a bride I was making my own name”. She feels that she still has more growing to do, and that being with you isn’t conducive to that growth.
