What are your experiences? How did you get into that job that usually only men reach? How did you succeed?

  1. Being communicative and approachable. Numbers speak for themselves in sales as well, which is helpful too.

  2. Job hopping every two years. It was too difficult to move up at my current jobs so I sought out roles with other employers that would pay me more, and voila.

  3. I took on more responsibilities until I was doing multiple jobs. It’s a small company. I told my boss I was already doing all the work of the position I wanted and I wasn’t getting paid for it. I explained how other places were offering more money and I was going to move on if I didn’t move up. It’s really hard for employers to find people to work where I live so they knew they’d have to cover all the work I do while they tried to find two or three people to take over what I did. I got the title and raise I wanted. Now I’m just waiting for the boss to retire…I’ve slowly been taking work off her shoulders to “help.”
