How to handle situations where you remember someone, but they don’t remember your name?

I run into this every so often. I will have met someone several months ago and run into them again at school or a social event. I remember their name, but they only vaguely remember me and not my name.

Is it rude to greet someone by their first name when you aren’t sure if they remember yours? I feel like this would put the other person in a position of discomfort. Do you think it’s better to pretend on only vaguely remember the other person? I feel like might be a bit cringe to hide that I remember the other person… but I’m so bad at these things lol
