Men who work at mine sites, what’s something that people don’t normally find out until they start working there?

  1. i’ve done professional services for mining operations where i go in and audit their inventory. I was surprised to find it was so big they had an entire production facility down there to mine the rock and process it into basically finished products. This was marble at the time and they would basically finish the tiles in the US, send them to Italy, and polish them where they would be sent back to the states with the Made in Italy label.

The best marble in the world comes from the US not Italy

  2. I think most people don’t realize the size and scope of operations for mining. You can easily see the impact of open-pit and surface mining but when you’re talking underground mining, you’d be amazed at how big mines are. You need space for machinery, to transport ore (or whatever) and all the secondary equipment that supports operations. Underground mines are massive.

  3. The drugs the company give you can cause paranoia and hallucinations. One dude thought there were spiders in his suit, took his helmet off and his head exploded.
