There are signs. Usually when they stop paying attention to you, when they’re no longer bothered by things that used to bother them, not caring if you’re around or not etc
I don’t think there are always signs, unfortunately. I have a few friends who had absolutely no idea until their Husband’s confessed (or would made to).
They change their usual way of behaving
