Hi everyone, I just want to ask for advice because I confirm my attendance on the christening of my supposed godchild (my close friend first son) last first week of January. We have a company event that I already knew last December and I just confirmed that it will also happen on the day of the christening of the son of my close friend. Honestly, I can’t attend the christening due to the stay-in company event out of town. I don’t want my close friend to be disappointed in me and I know that it is my fault that I didn’t check my January schedule. What should I do, or what should I say to my friend? I knew that this is not a question about career and life, I’m just really frustrated with my decisions in life.

  1. Dude, it’s work. Unless your friend is a pompous ass, he’s gonna understand. Be honest and tell him you fucked up, didn’t realize the dates overlap.
Then plan a nice lunch or something to spend some time with your Godchild. Who cares about the church attendance, doesn’t change anything, what matters is you give a shit.

  2. Well I would talk to your friend, tell him what happened. Maybe he can change the date. Maybe he will pick a new godparent.
