Meaning not McDonalds, Burger King, KFC, Taco Bell, etc. lesser known ones or regional ones only.

  1. Burgerville is a pretty great joint in the Pacific NW. they have lots of great seasonal items based on PNW produce

  2. I will put in a vote for Oregon-based Cafe Yumm. They make healthy-ish rice/legume/vegetable bowls with a soy-based “Yumm sauce” they developed, and which they also bottle and sell in local supermarkets.

There are a few dozen locations in Oregon Washington and Idaho, and that’s it.

The sauce comes in a couple flavors and its tangy and delicious and kind of addictive. The bowls they make are really tasty, and can include chicken and other add-ins. It feels like a fast food joint but at the same time it doesn’t. I really love Cafe Yumm and would be happy to see more of them.

  3. ***Freddy’s Frozen Custard*** is the biggest one that comes to mind.

Honestly though, most of the fast food I eat are local or regional places that most folks outside the area would have never heard of.

We’ve got tons of great fast food joints in my city that are regional or even local. Fast Food is a very popular “mom & pop” type thing around here.

  4. My real answer is Burgerville in Oregon but since someone already said that, I’ll also throw Filiberto’s in the Southwest.

  5. Taco johns!!!! Or runza. 🤤

Taco johns recently change their hot sauce and I hate it though.

I love runza, I wish we had one. Especially for temperature days!!

  6. Shake Shack is still fairly regional, since it’s in different states all across the country, but I personally would probably call that “fast casual” since I haven’t seen any with a drive-through.

  7. *Looks over shoulder*

Jack’s, that old standard of civilization in Alabama, makes better hamburgers than Milo’s! (But both make good chicken fingers)

    *Runs away*

  8. y’all need some cookout in your lives. Cheeseburger tray with fries, bacon wrap, and a cheerwine hits really good.

also it isn’t “fast food” but wawa is love

  9. Going to go with Braum’s in terms of both quality and being most obscure. Both traits stem from them refusing to operate outside of a 300-mile radius from their “home farm” in Oklahoma.

  10. I have always liked Friendlies I find their milkshakes some of the best milkshakes around.

  11. Tudor’s Biscuit World is only in West Virginia and lines usually go out the parking lot on Sunday mornings. So good.

  12. Sheetz has some pretty awesome food, especially for being a gas station. And there’s a plethora of options so usually everybody can get a hot meal that they like

  13. Whataburger, Bojangles

It’s more fast casual, but I like the sandwich shop Potbelly’s

I would say Five Guys, but i just saw one in Paris last week (near the Opera). It was odd–there was like a celebration of Americana throughout the restaurant and all these news clippings about it (I ran in because it was one of the only public restrooms around)

  14. Raising Cain’s! Is that well known enough? If not that place is awesome

Also Cappriott’s sandwich shop is pretty great

  15. We don’t have local fast food chains. Our local non-fast food chains are Papa Gino’s for pizza, 99 for Boston sports themed one notch above Applebees food, and D’Angelos and Amatos for subs. There are also places like Friendlys which isn’t unique to New England and Governors which is only in Maine north of Portland. Dunkin’ and local ice cream places fill the ubiquitous restaurant niche.
