How did you save enough money to afford your own place?

5. My first rented apartment? It was the nineties. ‘Nuff said.

   My first home purchase? Tragedy. I was the beneficiary on the life insurance.

6. Did well in highschool and went to a university where my tuition and boarding were covered by scholarships. Did terribly freshman year and decided to focus on working while I still had a free place to live on campus. Saved up that money, work two jobs, rent an apartment with roommates, quit one job and went back to school through an online program while working full time.
