we had a horse named George when I was a kid — the neighborhood my grandparents lived in has a stable attached — but they sold him when I was pretty young, like probably 5 or 6.
Not currently, I live in the suburbs and having horses would be extremely expensive.
I grew up in the country though and there were always a couple horses on my granddad’s farm.
My sister lives in Texas and raises Clydesdales
My ex-mother-in-law lives in Pennsylvania and has mini-horses and ponies.
On the farmstead, we have two horses. The first is a very dopey Percheron stallion who snores in his sleep and squeals whenever he gets excited. The other is a high-spirited Belgian Draft that is our impromptu “watchdog”. He dislikes the taste of apples but has a fondness for beer. We used to have a purebred Arabian horse that my mother rescued from a slaughterhouse after the Arabian horse market collapsed in the late 1980s.
When I was young we had tony the pony at my grandparents. My brother in law raised Clydesdales for a number of years before switching over to quarter horses.
Nope.
Some cousins in Ireland do, but nobody else.
I live across the field from horses, and down away from them are some mules and donkeys. Family friends own them, but not myself or family.
Wild horses also run out here occasionally. Not often anymore, but you’ll see them from time to time. No one owns them…they are magic.
No
No. We couldn’t afford it and were often too busy to care for one.
