What was the moment when you realized that even though you and the person you were dating had feelings and care for each other, it wasn’t going to work out?

2. It wasn’t when he told me he was leaving. We were graduating and I knew he was going to go back home, an hour away. It wasn’t until he told me he was packing up the last of his things and that he needed to pick up his apartment keys back home so he couldn’t see me for the last time before he left. He called me saying he arrived there. I felt like I was left behind. He was starting his life: new job, new apartment, new life. I didn’t have a car or job yet so I wouldn’t have been able to see him. He asked me to see him but I physically couldn’t, unless I paid $$$ (which I didn’t have) for Uber. We broke up that same day. I don’t regret the breakup, I’ve dated other people since then and he’s moved farther away anyhow. He was a nice and kind person until the end and we cared about each other deeply but it just did not work out.
