What are the differences between the symptoms of BV and trichomoniasis in women? Is the smell different or a difference in the appearance of the discharge? Can I tell them apart?

  1. Trichomoniasis is caused by a parasite that doesn’t normally exist in the vagina. BV is a bacterial infection caused by overgrowth of bacteria that are normally found in the vagina.

Otherwise symptoms are similar so if you have a concern you should see your doctor for a culture and treatment.
