Chicken tikka biryani
Chicken Pathia, Pilau Rice, Garlic Naan. But Pathia is not always available so Chicken Dhansak is a good alternative.
If there is a starter then Onion Bhajee or Sag Aloo
Some kind of fruit lassi to drink.
Chicken Tikka Dhansak (comes with rice usually), mixed kebab starter, prawn puri, garlic naan, tarka dhal.
Chicken bhuna, lamb bhuna, prawn bhuna, mushroom rice, bag of chips, keema naan, and 9 poppadoms.
Chicken phal and plain rice. Sometimes I get intense cravings for phall and eat it with relish, but I usually regret it the next day.
I have this Nepali place in my neighbourhood. They do a special, one chicken curry, one veggie curry, one pulse based curry, rice, 2 x chapattis, raita – all for about £5 (Thailand prices)
I love it because it’s different every time, I love surprises.
If back home, I’ll always do a veggie main and a meat based main. Aloo Gobi or Mushroom Masala + whatever mood I’m in meat-wise.
Lamb or chicken korai, onion bhaji, maybe sag paneer (don’t like it when it’s too creamy), steamed rice, garlic naan.
Onion bhaji, veg samosa, veg biryani, saag paneer, peshwari naan. For two people generally, but we’ll still have leftovers usually.
Lamb jalfrezi, pilau and plain naan
Butter chicken or chicken makhani, and a garlic naan.
Lamb Bhuna, lamb or chicken Korma, chips and garlic naan. Sometines throw in a chicken dhansak or chana puree. Usually between 3 people.
Anything on the menu that is actually spicy and authentic and not sweet
Always used to be
pilau rice, chicken tikka bhuna, okrah baghi, cauliflower bajhi, had to have mint sauce and mango chutney.
Chicken curry/dry tikka, subject to mood, mushroom rice, garlic naan and a nuce tadka daal! Fresh chillies too.
Chicken jalfrezi with extra green chillis, veg pilau, plain naan
Chicken tikka slightly spicy, pilau rice, poppadoms with the chutneys/onion salad and a garlic and coriander naan.
Lamb dansak, pilau rice, sag aloo, garlic naan, mint sauce, poppadoms. I quite like to add a couple of extra veggie sides like a daal or mutter paneer which yields lots of leftovers if there is just a blob of each.
