What are your thoughts on the Trades?

  1. Football? Professions? Lunchbox snacks? What are talking here.

I’m highly opinionated, just gimme some context.

  2. They can be excellent careers but hard on the body. I also think there’s job satisfaction in tangible results at the end of the day (compared to desk work). If you work for yourself, then you also have the challenges of running a business (bookkeeping, scheduling, building and maintaining a reputation and clientele). As a woman I’d be concerned about misogyny or discrimination by customers.

I have a lot of respect for those that do them and am a little jealous of the skills they have. Again, I hope it’s not too hard on them physically long-term and it may be hard to change careers later in life.

  3. Something that should be encouraged more by families than only the “good” jobs like doctor or lawyer, engineer, etc.

Don’t get me wrong: we need those as well but I feel like we already have enough of those as it is but we don’t have enough bakers, teachers, plumbers, etc.

  4. I’m an apprentice HVAC mechanic. Best decision I ever made. ROI for trade school vs most other types of education is wonderful. I paid $3500 for my initial training, that’s my net monthly pay now. I am learning a ton, and love that my work is both mental and physical. So many other jobs where you only use one or the other.
