Im not sure where to ask this so trying here first. I had prolapse from multiple childbirths and had surgery plus got a perineoplasty with it. I did not realize that my “skin tags” were skin tags and thought they would be removed Bc I thought it was related to the prolapse. I went back to my doctor mid recovery because I thought the prolapse was back when I saw them lol. My doctor apologized to me profusely for that miscommunication and has told me at my post op appt he can numb me up and cut them off. The main one that I hate is literally where my hymen would be and made sex uncomfortable plus… I hate the way it looks. I call it chewed up bubbled gum falling out of my vag. I’m going to my appt this week. Im about 8 weeks post op so I’ll be cleared for sex… which I’d like to resume ASAP 🙃 so now I’m wondering about the recovery from the skin tag removal 😭 does anyone know anything about the recovery? Can I resume sex as soon as it doesn’t hurt? How bad does it hurt after? Will there be stitches and another 6 weeks? 😭
I’m trying to get my freak on next week

I know I’ll find out in a few days but I’m just so bummed

*editing to add: I guess I should’ve clarified I’m hoping to hear some personal recovery stories to potentially ease my anxiety lol

  1. You’ll need to talk to your doctor – there is no way for us to know.

I had a very small skin tag on my labia – but like VERY SMALL. I was told I didnt NEED downtime if I kept it clean and it didnt hurt. But I has no stitches and just the tiniest scab for a few days. It sounds like you’re dealing with something much larger and in a much more sensitive area. Listen to whatever your doctor says – you don’t want to get an infection…..

  2. So when I was a kid, I wrecked my bike. I don’t recall exactly how this happened, but my mother told me later that I had blood in my panties and briefly complained of pain. Many many years later, in my mid 20s, I was having sex with my boyfriend at the time, and something in there tore. It hurt and it was sore and there was a little blood. I got checked out, and it looks like I tore my hymen back when I wrecked that bike. I didn’t have any pain when I first had sex, so this actually makes a lot of sense. When I had the leftovers removed, they called it skin tag removal, so it may be similar. If so, it was a very quick outpatient surgery. I was fine by the end of the day. I don’t recall how long before I could have sex again, but I don’t remember it being long enough to bother me, either. I’m in my 40s now and zero problems since having the surgery.
