We all struggle with communication at times, but the good news is, it’s a skill that can be learned and improved upon. I highly recommend picking up a copy of “Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life” by Marshall B. Rosenberg, “Crucial Conversations: Tools for Talking When Stakes Are High” by Kerry Patterson and co-authors, “The Five Love Languages: The Secret to Love That Lasts” by Gary D. Chapman, “The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work” by John Gottman and Nan Silver and “The Art of Communicating” by Thich Nhat Hanh. These books will give you the tools and strategies to connect with others and resolve conflicts more effectively. Also, practice active listening, compromise, and avoid blame in your conversations. Remember, you’re smart, capable, and confident, and with a little bit of effort, you’ll be a communication pro in no time!
