  1. There is a pharmacy/drug store building and on the side of it there is an awning with a window below it. You drive your car up to the window and provide your prescription. Then later you can drive up to that window and pick it up.

  2. If you know what a drive-thru and a pharmacy are, I would think the term is self explanatory. I’m not sure what’s hard to understand about this.

  3. It’s a pretty simple concept… You pull up to the window, tell them you have a prescription for “your name”, they give it to you, you pay if there is any charge, and you’re on your way.

  4. It’s a pharmacy that you drive through. I prefer to just go inside, usually it’s quicker and doesn’t waste gas.

  5. It just allows you to drive up to the “counter”.

You still have to have a prescription. You just can pick it up without getting out of your car, which is really nice for disabled individuals, who are more likely to have prescriptions.

  6. You send your prescription to a pharmacy (such as Rite-Aid, CVS, Walgreen’s, and some clinics have them, too). The prescription might be sent over directly from the doctor’s office, or you might upload it online, or call it in, or provide the paperwork at the pharmacy. Once the prescription is filled and is ready for pick-up, then you can either go in-person to the pharmacist’s window or you can drive through and pick it up without leaving your car.

So, it’s a regular pharmacy, just with the option to pick up the prescription through your car window.

Not all clinics and pharmacies have them.

  7. The way a pharmacy works is that you:

    * Request medicine at the pharmacy using a prescription from a doctor.
    * Pharmacy prepares the prescription.
    * Pharmacy lets you know the prescription is ready for pickup.
    * Pickup the prescription from the pharmacy.
Drive-thru pharmacies allow you to pickup your prescription by using a drive thru window instead of needing to walk into the store.

  8. It’s a pharmacy where you can pick up a prescription from the comfort and safety of your car. What did you think it was?

  9. It’s kinda in the name. It’s a main chain pharmacy that has a drive-thru section near the back or side. Simply enter in your information or give it to the pharmacist, they’ll process your prescription, and either give it to you themselves or place it in a drop box for you to grab.

  10. You drive to a window and pick up your prescriptions. I’m not sure what is confusing.

  11. We also have drive thru gas stations/convenience stores for when you want a drink or something but don’t feel like going in.

  12. Its like a drive-thru bank or a drive-thru restaurant, just a quick and easy way to pick up prescriptions.

  13. It is a pickup window on the side of the pharmacy you drive your car up to. It is so you don’t have to get out and walk in to pick up your prescriptions. It is super helpful for the elderly.

  14. You pick up your prescription from the Pharmacy like it’s a McDonald’s. It’s pretty self explanatory.

  15. It’s a pharmacy with a drive-through window, similar to fast food except most people know what they’re getting.

  16. I don’t see what’s hard to grasp about this.

Your doctor sends the pharmacy your prescription. You drive up to the window. You say “I’m here to pick up a prescription for deadbutt1.” They authenticate you (usually they just ask for your birth date) and give you your prescription. You drive away. End of transaction.

  17. Just like drive-thru for Wendy’s or anything else: your doctor calls in your prescrip, you pick it up at the window.

Long Island has a drive-thru dairy store: pick your sone eggs and a gallon of milk without even turning the car off.
