How do I ask a friend to hang out?

I do have a friend I’ve known since a year… singe october we hung out once every month (sometimes twice)
Over all -> 6 times
4 out of 6 times he asked and 2 times I did.

I do really struggle to ask him but I would like to this week.. how should I do it?
I’m really scared that he doesn’t even like me..
