I was trying book a ticket from London to southern Europe from Wizz Airlines, the date of flight is quite far, almost a year away. I did refresh page a few times and price almost increased 50%. Has anyone experienced this? Is this a tactic used by airlines to pressure you to buy ticket ? Will the price go back after a few hours ?

  2. Dynamic pricing. A common and well known thing.

More searches for a flight = more demand = higher prices.

    Always use incognito mode.

  3. Although it is possible that someone just happened to buy a few tickets which will drive up the price due to demand, most likely their systems have recognised an increase in demand due to you checking the flight several times so have driven up the price to make it look more in demand than it actually is to pressure you to pay, just like your theory.

I have first-hand experience of this, most recently only a couple of months ago, booking flights to Spain later this year. They started off at around £550 for 6 people, and then after checking several times in a week, they had shot right up to almost a grand. I didn’t check for another 3 weeks, and they’d gone back down to just over £600 and I booked. So yes, it is true that prices can fluctuate by people checking them over and over.

  4. Yeah. The more hits a flight gets the higher the price goes up. Been that way for years.

You should figure out what you want the wait until midnight when the site is quiet.

  5. Skyscanner and a lot of other sites do this if you keep returning to a search. Incognito mode is your friend. Clear your cache and cookies and you may get a different price if you try again.

  6. Clear your cookies or try using a different device. I’m sure more tech savvy people have other suggestions.

  7. Don’t go with Wizz Airlines whatever you do, it’s not worth the hassle! It may seem a better deal than other airlines but they’re a bunch of scammers. When you add up all the prices for baggage etc it’s not a better deal.

My flight got cancelled (their fault) and trying to get a refund was a nightmare, customer service was absolutely shocking, look up the reviews for them before you book.

  8. Open an in private window. Price will be original. It’s a tactic to get you to think price will keep going up and book quick.
