I \[24M\] suffered (and still suffer) from hyper sexuality since a very young age and I still struggle with that today. I also work in a very high stress profession (law) so all I want (as well as my colleagues) is to have some form of release. That used to be drinking and vaping (it’s disgusting I know). But now I tend to lean on that even more as I go though this semen retention journey. I am seven days into it and all my thoughts are about my fantasies and flashbacks from encounters I had in the past. I have sex with my girlfriend but even right after we have sex, I feel for more and more. And no, I won’t cheat on her.

Do you think semen retention is counterproductive? Do I start back masturbating?

How do I genuinely combat those thoughts and the need for detrimental forms of relief (alcohol and nicotine)?

Also anyone else experience this same thing?

  1. Semen retention is sex negative nonsense.

If you don’t want to masturbate, don’t. But don’t buy into the nonsense super powers it supposedly gives. All you are doing is not getting off.

  2. >Do you think semen retention is counterproductive? Do I start back masturbating?

What’s your goal in doing this?

Sounds like you’re dealing with addictions, in various forms. You probably need to start by seeking therapy/professional help.

  3. Your test levels will drop on this “journey” thereby rectifying the “problem.”

  4. *Do you think semen retention is counterproductive*

Yes, there is no scientific evidence that there is any benefit.

  5. I suspect you’ve fallen victim to woo woo. In case I’m incorrect, check out what the Mayo Clinic has to say in the link below. If you fit the description, see a physician. I promise you that whatever you’re doing now will not treat a disorder. If you don’t have a diagnosable disorder, you are surely well on your way to creating one with this utter nonsense.

And ffs, LEARN something about how your body actually works.

In the meantime, a reader friendly article on this woo woo.

And, for the record, if you’re engaging in partnered sex or solo sex, but stopping short of ejaculation, there’s other terms for it you might be interested in: edge and denial, and orgasm denial. There’s an entire world of kink built around these, including chastity cages. And gay folk have been into longer than most.
