I’m living in a large block of flats with a communal hot water system, paid for by the service charge. The hot water has been intermittent for 6 months, and recently we have been without hot water for nearly 3 weeks. We have started the official complaints process and made it clear we expect compensation. We aren’t certain what to expect from this but has anyone been in a similar situation?

  2. I feel you should not pay 3/52ths of the annual hot water charge because the service was not provided for that time. You can try to decide how much compensation you want for additional inconvenience and costs as well.

  3. I’d expect a £5 Amazon voucher max. Not because you don’t deserve much more, but because building management are generally arseholes.
