Has the bar scene changed? Do less people go out for a night on the town? Are their social smoking places? How’s it work for indoor smoking/patio smoking where allowed for tobacco? How have peoples views morphed since legalization?

  1. Anecdotally from my observations, it seems there has been a significant drop in alcohol consumption. Especially at things like sporting events and concerts.

I have no actual evidence of that though. I just know what I see.

Fewer people sneaking booze into places. Especially among younger people.

Friends in the industry say breweries and some bars have noticed fewer customers and reduced sales. Again, all anecdotal though.

  2. In my experience, literally nothing has changed except you no longer hear about people getting arrested or harassed for smoking a joint

As far as where you’re allowed to smoke weed, it’s everywhere tobacco use is allowed.. **except** in private cars or places like restaurants with outdoor smoking areas.

Still, even if the bar won’t let you smoke in their garden, just go out front and it’s allowed.

There are some bars/cafes that cater specifically to cannabis smokers

Any sort of private_ish party or opening or other event will be same as it always was prior to legalization.. people smoking weed in there

It’s sort of hard to analyze if the bar scene has taken a hit since I’m sure it has.. but Covid had something to do with it.. I think we’re still trying to recover from that

  3. I’m in vegas so legalization just made it another thing to party with. Drinking may have decreased a little bit but most people I know will do both in one night. You can’t smoke in public but hardly any cops with enforce it. Lounges or social places have been approved here but they aren’t up and running yet. Again weed isn’t legal in public indoors or outdoors. You’re only suppose to smoke at a private residence. People perceptions have changed in my experience as they aren’t afraid to ask questions or even try a little bit.

  4. In Michigan, you just have people that are both drunk and stoned driving around on Friday and Saturday nights.

  5. Oregon here. While I don’t smoke, I know plenty of people that do. The taxes imposed by the state are hefty. There is still a thriving gray/black market for weed. A lot of people buy weed from where they’ve always bought weed: Trevor, their friend-of-a-friend.

  6. I can only speak for us. My friend group — we prob used to have 5 or six drinks at my parties. Now it’s a couple drinks and a gummy or 2.

So when people crash at my place there are way less hangovers.
