I had a Tuff Lite folding knife for years and I absolutely loved it. But unfortunately I lost it during a recent move.

I’m just looking for something durable, sharp, simple, but functional. I’ll be carrying it in my pocket. No multi tool, just a damn good pocket knife.

Any recommendation for brand or specific knife?

  1. Opinel. I’ve had them since I was a kid, and they hold a fantastic edge. Plus a very sturdy locking mechanism. And they look classy.

  2. I like my Benchmade. Pretty pricey, but never had a problem with it. And they’ll sharpen it for you for free whenever you need.

  3. I’ve carried my Victorinox pocket knife daily for over 10yrs now. It’s still pretty damn good.

  4. Victorinox is what I use. It’s small and handy for just about every conceivable light duty task.

  5. I’ve used benchmades for years, used them while working construction, rock climbing, in the field as an emt. They are on the pricier side but they are well made and last.

  6. When my FIL passed, he had a huge collection of Case knives. He had a handful that were near 100 years old, probably are by now.

  7. Spyderco, benchmade, microtech, Boker, ZT, QSP, civivi are knives I have. Blades range from d2 to m4 to s30v.

    Overall fav, Spyderco para 3

  8. I’ve carried a case trapper of some sort for over 45 years. Good durable easy to sharpen. They come in a wide variety of handle materials as well.

  9. In terms of bang for buck, I might look at cold steel or Kizer. Something like the Spyderco Delica or Endura would be solid options as well

I’d be able to help you more if I knew more about what you were looking for in terms of price, weight, etc.

  10. I’ve carried a Spyderco Dragonfly for many years. Small, unobtrusive in a pocket, profile doesn’t scream “TACTICAL!” to those looking for an argument. Blade is fairly robust, decent point and cutting edge just long enough. Massive thumbhole makes it simple to open one handed, even with the off-hand. Locks open easily.
