I haven’t worked in a setting with a lot of people since 2021 and have started a job this year 2023. I’ve noticed that people are less likely to make eye contact and less likely to talk to each other about randomness and just for the sake of easing the work day. People seem on edge and offended by small talk. I’ve even reached out to have a conversation and in some cases they respond with silence and walk away. Anyone else experiencing this more these days?

  1. I haven’t seen anything specifically on this, but there has been a lot of talk about how people’s social skills have decayed during COVID, and other social things too. So I wouldn’t be surprised.

Also, however, it sounds like you have started a new job, and perhaps people are less friendly there?
