I use dude a lot. If someone has a problem with it I simply stop talking to them.
personally i just remain conscious that it’s a choice i’m making. i will slip up, but when i do it comes with a moment of re-acknowledging the change i want to make. eventually, it happens.
i use to use “like” to excess, dropped the habit. when i get too sweary for my liking i make the conscious effort to rein it in.
I use dude too much but mostly as an exclamation, not a form of address.
