In my suburb, the social places are the American Legion, group fitness classes, school events (if you have kids), dogpark if you have a dog. You have to identify ‘social spaces’ in your area and go be social there. Also look to see if there’s some techy meetup you can plug into.
You can start by going to public places in your area such as the mall, and park. If you go to bars, restaurants, and local bakeries and they see you often they will most likely know you’re new in town and might invite you to some of their events. Since you’re into computers I am sure there is always a group or social media page in your area wherein you can join and meet other members with the same passion. The internet provides effective communication using emailing and messaging services worldwide.
