It’s been over three weeks and I really want a shower

  1. When I approached builders for quotes they all stated that it usually takes 3-5 days.

  2. Depends on your installer’s timetable, how big your bathroom is, and whether there are any unforeseen issues. Anywhere from 3 days to a few weeks.

  3. Took mine 2 weeks to strip it completely to bare brick and then plaster, fit tiles, fit new lights, all the new bathroom furniture etc.

  4. Mine took 12 days. The guy spent more time on the phone than working, but he did a good job in the end.

  5. a few days to a week. if it’s longer, tell them they’re going to get your daily trip to the gym to shower deducted from their final bill until it’s complete.

  6. About a week and a half, also depending the size of the room, mine is 4 sq2 so any bigger longer I guess

  7. It took me less than a week to fit my last bathroom.

That included moving pipework, plastering the ceiling, tiling the walls and floors plus the obvious suite.

As a DIYer if I can do it in a week any fitter worth his salt should be able to do it. That being said sometimes they’ll be waiting on other trades, I do all my own work so I can run job to job

  8. You’re terrifying me! We’re having our new bathroom fitted next week [family biz rather than a big company like Wickes] – and they’ve said 2 weeks; and we’re having the lot – new tiles, new ceiling, new shower/toilet etc. Medium sized bathroom.

Not sure I can cope with more than two weeks of washing in the upstairs tiny bathroom with only one of those tap-attachment thingies for the ‘shower’ effect…

  9. That’s a long time, have they said what the hold up was?

Mine was done in just under a fortnight, 5 day weeks.

  10. We had two bathrooms done in 5 days Mon-Fri. This was pre pandemic though so there were no issues with parts not being available. Also we didn’t have any tiling done which would have made things quicker

  11. Mine took 3 weeks.

Everything stripped, new electrics, all pipes etc hidden in the walls, underfloor heating etc.

I imagine if you are just replacing a few bits it would be much quicker.

  12. Having bathrooms done right now. It’s been 11 days so far. Maybe tomorrow will be last day so three weeks doesn’t seem too far off

  13. Our bathroom had everything removed, all tiles taking out, walls plastered and tidied, net tiles and new toilet, sink, bath and shower fitted within 5 days

  14. Ous was done back in the really hot part of the summer. We were told 2 weeks to completely strip back to the brick, reroute the plumbing, plaster, tile and fit hardware.

He ran over by 2 days which was fair seeing as he lost a bit of time due to the heat and a few things he found that he wasn’t expecting.
