I was pretty similar. 24 now, and looking back I realize adults are just easier to talk to most of the time. Generally (not always) they are more emotionally intelligent, have more interesting conversations, are better at being friends, and sometimes have bits of wisdom that’s actually helpful to you (not saying that’s me lol).
Growing up I was the youngest in my class, and spent more time around adults than with people my age. So I was always used to talking to people older than me. Highschool came around and not to be egotistical, but I was more mature that the majority of my peers and had no interest in highschool drama or gossip or parties. I genuinely thought and still think most of them weren’t smart/or mature enough to throw a birthday party. So I stuck with the people I liked to be around.
I dont know anything about you but that was my experience, and it might be similar to yours.
Edit to add: now that I’m 24 I still tend to have out with people older than me ( people in their 30s) but that’s because of who I happened to start dating, work, and keeping older friends I knew from high school around. No I’m more likely to hang out with people my age, even though the average 24 year old can still be childish. But I party now lol.
