THE WAFFLE: Have finally renewed my passport to my new (married) name and decided at the same time to get (first) passports for my children (online). I’m almost 100% sure the addresses given were the same, and I read something on the gov website during the application about sending family applications together, just labelling the documents so I packaged them up, paid for the postage, and then the person validating the children’s photos completed his bit, and the email has come back telling me to send theirs somewhere different 🙈
I’m kinda loathed to send them separate as it’s more cost and more chance of things getting lost – I want to keep things safe and together.

QUICK VERSION: Been told to send 3 passport related documents to different addresses, but had already packaged to go to the first applications address. Will this cause issues or will they just sort the applications at the office they arrive at?

Thank you in advance 🙈

  1. In the depths of the website, it says it doesn’t matter and all paperwork and docs get matched up fine. I spent about 2 hours finding that out last year.

They just try to manage the loads between the various offices.

  2. I believe it all gets digitised upon receipt at whatever office regardless. When I was renewing mine in person (needed it speedily), he was able to view my first time application from over 15 years ago when I got one as a kid. Could literally show me my mam’s handwriting and where she fucked up putting my name on it.

  3. Did you put all of the supporting documents for all applications in one envelope with all application reference numbers on the front of the envelope?
