   I’ve been admiring you and if you’re free to go to the prom, I’d like you to go with me. Does that sound good to you?

   (if a buddy knew her name, you could avoid the awkward first bit)

2. The best way would be to find someone that knows her and have that person connect you guys or atleast provide intel if she’s single or not.

   Second best approach imo, would be to write down your name/number and when you see her in the hall, just give her a tap on the shoulder, let her know you think shes cute, and give her the piece of paper. Introduce yourself if you want but you can just say if shes interested, to text you.
