Does this happen to anyone else? Basically, sometimes I go days with very minimal verbal communication with people and, as a result, i find myself having to “adjust” to society/people again. Like it’s just like I just get so anxious around people people and stumble on my words and start stuttering making a fool of myself.. But i’m not usually like this. Usually I have no issue talking to people. It’s only when I dont talk to them for days when this happens. And it usually takes like 1-3 days to adjust again to how I normally am. It’s such an inconvenience since I’m not a big extroverted person who’s always going out with friends nor interacting with strangers. Anyway to avoid this?

  1. I do this too! I find it’s worse when I am talking to a couple of people at the same time. As a result I’ll end up not talking for a day or two and my mind can’t think of anything else to say. Of course the cycle then just repeats itself.

  2. Usually when this happens to me I try and make a joke of it. I’ll fumble on some words, then I’ll just make some noises with my mouth, as one does when they just can’t spit out words, then I’ll pause, say something jokingly like “Words are hard.” Then try and gain my composure and try again. Typically people will react in a positive way to me being a little silly, and that’ll make it a lot easier for me to continue talking without stuttering so much as I feel like some of the pressure is taken off of me.
