As inspired by the brilliant thread just now where someone fantastically described a theme tune they didn’t know the name of, and the first reply worked out it was Ski Sunday. Also because we have *loads* of “what song/theme tune/advert do you hate?” type threads, so nice to have some positivity.

To kick off –

Grandstand. This is easily the best version – [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sOKuzo8nSY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sOKuzo8nSY)

Red Dwarf, obviously, though I never realised until now that the full version runs a whole 5 minutes – [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTEpiFcn0wI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTEpiFcn0wI)

And as a bonus, this totally apocalyptic version of the old BBC News theme which scared the shit out of me as a kid – [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfpybEHUQYU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfpybEHUQYU)

  1. Hitch hikers guide (flight of the sorcerer by the eagles)

The adventure game (carruli’s Duo in G, Op. 34 No. 2: Rondo)

    Firefly

Ds9 I think is a better theme than TNG because I always preferred the theme tune to Wrath of Khan over the Motion Picture theme they went with for TNG.

    Life on Mars

  2. I always liked Treasure Hunt. Not British but pretty much anything by Mike Post and Pete Carpenter.

  3. 🎵Have you ever, have you ever felt like this?

How strange things happen, are you going round the twist?🎵

Also, yep, it’s literally been at least 20 years since I’ve watched an episode of Red Dwarf but if someone says “it’s cold outside”, my brain carries on with: “there’s no kind of atmosphere…”

Blackadder 2 has to be a contender?

  4. The Raccoons and Littlest Hobo were unnecessarily good. I’m actually fairly sure Dua Lipa drew heavily from the former for her song Physial.

  5. Came here to say Grandstand, but as I’ve not seen it mentioned, i’ll offer up Ski Sunday.

  6. The old excerpt from the Chain by Fleetwood Mac was used for Formula 1 coverage. Always thought that music was the best part of watching F1!

Also, the opening song of What we do in the Shadows is great.

  7. Game Of Thrones

    The Bill

    Minder

    Tales Of The Unexpected

    Round The Twist

    Blackadder 2

Bottom (also the closing credits song, I’d love to know what that’s called)

Only Fools And Horses (start and closing songs)

    Red Dwarf

    Men Behaving Badly

    Where Is Carmen Sandiego?

    Visionaries

    Button Moon

    Postman Pat

Thomas The Tank Engine (the jaunty piano original)

    Charlie Chalk

    M.A.S.K.

    Ulysses 31

    Bravestarr

Defenders Of The Earth (that put pulp comic heroes like The Phantom in a team together)

The Terrible Thunderlizards (sung by Dee Snider himself from Twisted Sister)
