This is mostly a rant. I just canceled the reservations I made for a fancy dinner on the 14th for my wife and I. This was at her request. A co-worker of hers just had surgery and needs assistance. My wife told her that she would help so she told me we can’t go out for our date. We planned this over a month ago. For the restaurant we were going to it needs to be reserved out that far for Valentines.

This is not the first time she has canceled our plans in favor of someone else or just forgot we had plans and scheduled over them. She asked me yesterday what I wanted for Valentines. I said just a nice fancy dinner for the two of us.

I guess I am feeling second place to everyone else in her life and needed to vent.

FYI – we have been married 34 years and I am still crazy in love with her. One of her best qualities is how much she cares for people. It just seems she doesn’t send that care my way and I feel taken for granted.

Thanks for letting me vent

  1. Maybe you could get a reservation at the restaurant for next month on the 14th? My husband has a spring outage and fall outage; the spring lands on our anniversary and the fall lands on my birthday….. so we’ve always celebrated the next month.

  2. Awe.

She sounds like a sweetie, but even though it makes her feel special to be kind to others, she needs to be able to put the marriage first.

She can help sick people by bringing food the next day or delivering a card or taking out the cat tomorrow …

I’m 53 years old. I think it’s good to learn to say no to others and to give gratitude to our spouse.

Good luck and congratulations on 34 years!!
