I’ve recently become interested in a girl in my friend group, I’ve got my senior prom coming up end of march and I’d like to ask her, I’m leaning towards wanting to ask her to go as friends because I don’t want to make it weird since as I mentioned in the title she’s talking to someone else. This someone else is someone she doesn’t like talking about a lot and gets very embarrassed when we’re all hanging out together and won’t even share his name with us, we’ve only seen a picture of him. We all assume they’ve only texted/snapped, she’s said there’s “potential” (with him) when we’re talking about who everyone’s going to bring to prom. Thing is, nobody in the group knows it’s her I want to go with, I feel like I’m in a really weird situation here and I don’t want to try and push things further as I know she’s talking with this guy a little bit and I value our friendship more than a possible relationship. She has stated that the guy probably wouldn’t go to prom with her because he’s busy with college so that’s something I guess?
Any advice/insight?
