Physical working people who get hot n sweaty, how do keep your natural body odour in check?

  1. I just bring deodorant to work and wash my laundry twice when I have to. Long showers and lots of scrubbing after work. The work shirts are a pain in the ass because they’re hard to get fresh.

  2. For some context, my workplace can get a bit toasty, a workshop, around 35°C or more and we are required to wear long sleeves and pants.

Not a lot of body ventilation going on so when working (metal work type stuff) the sweat just rolls down the back and so on.

Diet, there isn’t anything crazy that would cause any issues.

  3. Drink liquid chlorophyll. Easily available online or at chemist warehouse ( in Australia)

  4. Deodorant

If it’s getting really bad I’ll do a whores bath halfway through the day with baby wipes or a sink and rag. Then reapply deodorant.

Clean the crack regularly to prevent swamp ass

Put your boots in the freezer when you get home or run em on a dryer. Get the moisture out and kills the bacteria. Clean em out once a week with vinegar.

Loose fitting clothes that are breathable, including boxers.

  5. Duke cannon cold shower body wipes come in clutch. I’ll use them if I go to a restaurant at lunch or if I’m not going straight home after work and have to stop somewhere. Helps to keep an extra clean shirt in the truck too

  6. I work a very physical job and workout off the clock as well. When I started this job, I absolutely reeked because my deodorant kept failing me throughout the day. A combination of three things has helped me keep the odor in check:

    1) I take a weekly “vinegar bath”. I soak 4 different cotton balls in vinegar and then rub them in my armpits, groin area, and then the buttocks region. Let it sit for 10 minutes and then take a normal shower afterwards. The vinegar deodorizes the aforementioned areas and the shower takes out the strong vinegar smell. (It sounds crazy but it does work!)

    2) I also use a 48-hour spray deodorant. My current selection is the Arid Extra Dry Spray. I apply a normal amount to the armpits and a light coating to the groin and buttocks regions.

    3) I shave/trim my body hair in the aforementioned areas. Armpit hair tends to have the most impact when it comes to odor.

  7. Shower before and after work. I’m going to get a little stinky on hot summer days, it is what it is.

  8. Scent layering is important. Shower and soap. Then i apply old spice. Then a healthy dose of cologne. And its OKAY TO APPLY MORE COLOGNE THAN PEOPLE SAY. You just need a nice high quality one people will like. The scent itself needs to be more subtle.

Cheap cologne and those bodspray shit is intentionally sharp in fragrance and people just douse themselves and it becomes sickening. Sorta how fresh bread can be a strong smell but not overpowering. If you learn how to apply you’ll be better at gauging.

Midsection, wrists, and a small amount on the lower neck. Helps you not become more blind to it.

Now I don’t sweat though. Like I’ve never soaked through shirts or even make noticeable sweat stains. Which sucks because heatstroke is a real danger. But even I may feel the need to reapply deodorant if its real hot or intense.

So idk how you work. But keep some in your locker, truck, or whereever just in case. Better to be with and not need than without.

  9. Machine operator here. My plant can get up to 105 F in the summer. Daily showers or showers every other day are essential. I change multiple times a day as well, more laundry but I stay feeling clean and refreshed. When I change I also like wiping my ‘essential’ parts down so I feel clean getting into clean clothing.

Find a good natural deodorant that won’t jack up your skin, you’ll be using it often, I like Tom’s. Moisture wicking clothing, are essential as well. Stay hydrated and eat well.

  10. Shower, trim body hair, gold bond powder, deodorant, and always change my socks and wipe me feet down during my lunch break. Also reapply deodorant during my lunch break.

  11. Wool shirt. Hear me out.

A light weight merino wool shirt will not stink. Synthetics will stink to high hell. Cotton will stink. Heavy lambs wool will make you too hot. But a light weight merino wool shirt will breathe well, keep the sun off you, and won’t stink.

Wool & Prince, IceBreaker, many others make good shirts. Not cheap, definitely worth it. I know because I packed 2 shirts on a 30 day, self-supported1500 mile bike tour. And yeah, I’m a sweaty guy.

  12. Change in mindset helped me a lot. I do a lot of outdoors work. If I’m sweating, I’ve been working hard. Most people can respect that. Ironically, becoming less apprehensive about it made me sweat less

  13. Sweat like a horse. Change my shirt if wearing one 2 or 3 times a day, use Mitchum unscented gel and Gold Bond powder.

  14. I take a shower after work.

At work, who gives a fuck. We are all there getting hot and sweaty. If that offends someone’s delicate sensibilities, they need to go work somewhere else.

  15. I shower regularly and accept that I will smell sweaty after a while.

Bad BO is only from not washing properly, not from sweating in the short term.

  16. Shower, corn starch/gold bond, and deodorant. I wash my feet/pits/crotch and change my socks at lunch.

I undress in the garage and go straight to the shower.

I use a stripping technique on my work clothes to remove any and all leftover odor-causing residue before washing.
